Our History
In 1841 that the original chapel was established in what was at that time a section of the overseer's residence in the Government Stockyard at Cawdor.
At that time though the Wesleyan Methodists also conducted church services in private residences before a decision was made to erect a new church building in 1850.
An addition to the original brick church was added in 1861 with the site for the church and cemetery being donated by Sir James Macarthur.
From 1855 to 1888 day-schooling was conducted in the church.
In time the original church building was demolished with a new (current building) being constructed in 1902.
This current church building features some of the original church bricks, the pulpit and some of the seating.
In 2000 several small rural churches amalgamated and became the Camden Country Congregation.
It was decided that Cawdor would be an independent Congregation and this change was effected in July 2005 under the authority of the Parramatta-Nepean Presbytery.
